What do you think of this surround sound system?

Help with my surround sound and lcd tv?

  • I have a Philips LCD tv model number is 42PFL3704D/F7. When I hook up my surround sound system through HDMI no sound comes out. My surround sound system is also a philips its actually surround sound and DVD player. I read the owners manual and did what it said still no sound. I get sound if i do rca cables but I want true HDMI sound. I would think since the LCD TV and the SSS are both philips it would work. Anyone have any ideas. I guess I could break down and call customer support. I can't stand that b/c they normally tell you everything you've already done. Thanks

  • Answer:

If your SS has HDMI inputs and outputs, then you'll need to connect the DVD player to the SS via HDMI cable. Then have a HDMI cable going from the SS to the TV. If your SS doesn't have HDMI inputs and/or outputs, then you'll need to connect the DVD player to the TV via HDMI cable. Then you'll also need to run a digital audio cable(coaxial or optical) from DVD to SS. Coaxial audio cables are the most durable! Optical audio cables are another option, but less durable! Hope this helps!
