Why is my new tv blurry?

New Samsung LED TV Blurry Text Issue On Xbox 360 in 1080p?

• It's Christmas today and I got myself a new Samsung LED TV (model number: UE40D5520R) which supports full 1080p HD. So I setup the TV, got my Xbox 360 connected and to my surprise the 1080p picture quality looked... well not as I'd hoped. The TV wasn't cheap and it's a Samsung so it can't be anything wrong with a brand new (and well branded) TV. The issue is, when I'm looking at the dashboard the text on the screen isn't completely crystal clear, it has some sort of blurred edge around it which makes it look awful. I do consider myself to be knowledgeable with technology and I've been through all the settings and changed things such as the sharpness and black levels, but still the same issue? I am using a HDMI cable (and I've tested 2 different cables) and everything is double checked and all set to 1080p, but I just don't understand why it's so blurred on the text?

  Hey, I got a new xbox 360 for christmas yesterday too! I have the same problem but it's because I have a 1080 widescreen TV and no HDMI cable, which I'm getting sorted. The text is blurred and switches between seemingly HD to blurry as hell. All I can say is double check that everything is in the sockets properly (i know, i know, obvious) and make sure if you have a widescreen TV that the settings are set to widescreen. Also, there should be an option to use 'PAL-60' or 'PAL-50'. As your TV is new and up-to-date, it will most probably support PAL-60, so just make sure that it's set to that.
