How do I connect my Dell Studio 15 labtop to my LCD TV?

I need help connecting my Laptop to my TV?

  • I am trying to connect a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop to a Sony KDL-46S2000 LCD HDTV, to use the TV as a monitor. The TV has a PC in slot at the back of it, and the labtop has a VGA port. I connected the 15 pin VGA male-to-male cable from the computer, to the TV, but there is no picture on the TV. A window pops up on the laptop about display settings and I pressed ok. Once I connect the VGA cable from the laptop to the TV, what should I do next? I cant seem to find a VGA input on the TV menu, and I have cycled through all of the inputs, but there is no computer picture on any of them. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

Ok, FIRST you have to turn ON the VGA port on your Toshiba....read the instruction manual or search online for the info. Then you get to set your Toshiba's resolution to 1920x1080 and set your refresh rate to 60Hz. Click Apply, then OK. Next, the signal will go active, and the TV will recognize that signal and THEN your PC input on the TV set will go active and be selectable... WOO HOO!
