What does one to one ratio mean?

What does it mean the ratio contrast in a HDTV? i want the one with 25,000 is there other better?

  • Answer:

Don't get cought up in the hype, Contrast ratio is a non standard rating. Each manufacture provides there own standard. A set that is rated at 1000 to one might be 500 to one when you measure the same set with one manufactures standards. Pick the set that looks the best to you, not the one the salesperson tell you is the best. Most of them work on commission and will tell you what ever you want to hear so they can make the sale.

That's a pretty High Contrast ratio !! Do you NEED it for your viewing area? How about the REFRESH rate? 120 Hz Refresh rates are NOW availble in the Sony XBR4 line, and several S and V series of models too.... That will STOP the lagging pictures from occurring....
