Why is my dlp tv flickering?

DLP or LCD for a video gameing tv??

  • I am going to buy a new tv and I have heard pros and cons of each LCD and DLP. My uncle said DLP has the best picture quality, but Im not sure thats true. I want to get a slim tv to put on the wall. I play Xbox 360 a lot so I need a tv that is good for gaming. Which should I get, and what is the big difference between these 2 types of tv's??? (also I have noticed that DLP's are cheaper then LCD...why?)

    DLP was the only 1080p technology out there for a while, but I'm not sure that's true anymore. The best quality of picture will be with an 1080p display, whichever you choose. Many DLP screens aren't thin enough to wall mount, although some of the newer ones are. All LCD's should be wall mountable. One of the deciding factors for you since you use Xbox a lot is that DLP screens cant suffer from burn-in of often displayed game graphics, but LCD displays can. So if you want to guarantee that you don't have to watch NBC through a haze of Halo 3 graphics after you fall asleep with the TV on again, then perhaps DLP should be your choice.

Take a look at the different designs. The LCD is a direct view design, while the DLP is projection. In a design sense, the LCD will give you a clearer picture. CRT HD offers the best picture but with a couple of major drawbacks -excessive weight, and screen size limits. The plasma is next in line, but again with a couple major drawbacks -reflective picture screen and screen burn-in. LCD will give you the best balance of picture quality with the least amount of compromises/drawbacks. Bottom line, you need to see both (or all) designs at the same time to compare for yourself and de- cide. This will be your best point of reference.
