Which HDTV should I get?

Which TV should I get, Tube or HDTV?

  • We are looking to get a new TV, but not sure what kind to get. I have digital cable and a Wii. I played the Wii on my friends 42 inch LCD TV and it looked crappy, very blurry, and had alot of pixels around the objects moving. I think tubes look more clear, but they say HDTV is supposed to be crisper, why is that?

    take the wii to a tv shop and ask them to hook it to one of the LCD tv that you think to buy, if it play very well BUY IT :-)

I think you are meaning to ask the difference between sdtv(most tubes use standard definition which is 480 lines horizontal resolution) and hdtv can use up to 1080 lines of horizontal resolution-1080i and 1080p. You really should get a tv with a digital tuner(atsc) because in a few years almost all broadcasts will be digital. It almost sounds like your friends tv or wii must have been in 480 mode

I have a HD LCD with ps3 the pic is clear maybe your friend had it hooked up wrong

It's really your own preference. I like the tube tv's... the LCD just doesn't seem, right to me... But as they say.. to each his own..

My advice to you is to go with the LCD if you have the money. It is worth it in the long run. but if you dont have the money for a good Lcd wait and get the tube. i know exactly what your talking about. I just bought a 40 LCD samsung and when i first hooked up my xbox it looked bad and had the pixels floating around. The problem was that you need to configure the tv up for that. My LCD had a game mode on it, and i had to configure the xbox in the settings to play in widescreen format. Then i had to get the HD cables. Now my gaming is ten times better. I play halo 2 and i can see people so much easier because everything is so defined.
