Pay triple price for LED or get LCD TV?
-
Is it really worth it to get a LED TV? LCD's are becoming very reasonable but now with LED TV's I am worried about a LCD Tv being outdated soon.

Answer:
A standard LCD TV is back lighted by a bulb. An LED tv is back lighted by an array of LEDs. There are several advantages to this. The first one is that the circuitry that lights the LED adjusts the brightness for the small region of the screen it lights. This means that blacks can be truly black. The contrast ratio of these TV's is often very good, better then standard LCD TV's With a standard LCD TV, it is not possible to turn off the bulb for any region of the TV. A second advantage of this is that the picture is brighter. You can see that in the stores. A third advantage is lifetime. The LEDs will last longer then the bulbs that backlight standard LCD TV's. They will probably last as long or longer than the rest of the TV does. As for whether or not LED is worth paying for, depends. How much do you care about the quality of the picture. LED back lighted TV's have a better picture then standard TV's but you may decide that the additional $800 or so price is too high.

Standard-LCD: Pros: Cheap Cons: Run Hotter Consume 40% more energy than LED-LCDs LED-LCD: Pros: Picture Quality (most LCDs have a 2000:1 contrast ratio, some very good ones have 10:000 to 20,000:1 contrast ratio. the series 6 40" LED has a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio) Cons: Expensive You should have jumped on Best Buy's LED-LCD sale. most if not all our LEDs were on sale. however if you still go with the cheaper of 3 evils (lcd, led, plasma) remember that if this tv is on display in a dark room look into plasmas, yes the risk of burn-in is greater, however plasma provides the best quality in dark/dimly lit rooms, but if your room is brightly lit stay the course and go with a lcd. Edit: some LCDs are already 3D ready. In our warehouse we have a 72" mitsubishi that is 3D ready. so if your even worried about being 3D ready just check your tv before you buy. also, pioneer isn't even that great. they should stick to speakers. I would take a sony before a pioneer (I don't like sony) maybe even a vizio (now that's a cheap tv)

neither one of them because when they start rolling out with 3D which is coming verrry verry soon you wont be able to watch it on an lcd or led not only that there is a higher return ratio on the lcds as oppose to the plasmas and you will always have a lag problem with the lcd/led .... and if your open with money like that your better off getting the best tv out there.. PIONEER =)

if you have the money to spend on the LED TV go for it but if not get the LCD? there is no great huge difference between the two, the LCD will not become out dated anytime soon.

An LED television is a LCD tv with LED backlighting,so nothing really new. I would buy an LCD, cheaper to run, good picture quality and can work at any altuitude unlike plasma .
