Sony Bravia sound problems with xbox 360 and DVD player, what should I do?

I bought a Sony Bravia 40" LED LCD 3D TV (EX72 model) and the PS3 is connected via hdmi cable and that works great. However my DVD player connected via HDMI cable has picture but no sound and my Xbox 360 connected via component cables has the same picture/no sound problem. I have read that this is a problem with sony TV's and had I known this I would have considered strongly about not buying this TV. My last TV was a 22" Palsonic and had no problems but obviously I wanted an upgrade and the picture on this is a lot better to me even though my last TV was Full HD too. Anyone have any idea what I can do?
Answer:

check mute.... check sound volume not zero...on menu check with a roof antenna...if no sound yet....there is a trouble on sound circuit. usually plugging and unplugging headphones make its jack loose. touching a free cable to a metal sheet(heating radiator ..frame of window) which other side connected tv,make switching AV ic damage.
