How do you unlock channels on freeview?

Sharp tv with built in Freeview not finding any freeview channels?

  • Hi guys, Bought a 40 inch Sharp LCD that is supposed to have built in Freeview yesterday. Have tried tuning it atleast a good 10 times but it only finds 8 analogue channels and none of the digital channels. I've tried tuning it with just digital and the result is zero channels found. I checked on the freeview website and my postcode is supposed to be fine. So not too sure what the problem is. Should I try getting an external booster to see if that will help or is it pointless? What else can I do? Thanks in advance

  • Answer:

Surprised you can still find that many analogue signals. It may be that the area you are in you need a wideband aerial to receive all the Freeview multiplexes so although an external booster may help with some channels it wouldn't necessarily help with all of them. If your area hasn't fully changed over to digital yet some of the multiplexes won't be at full power and so may be difficult to receive with your existing aerial. So the ideal solution is an outdoor wideband aerial and a CT100 (satellite grade) coaxial cable downlead.

first read its user manual specifications pages to see if it is analog or analog+digital. for better reception you need a roof antenna.
