Full HD 42" TV question?

  • Hi guys, i want to buy a LCD/plasma TV, and the more expensive ones have FULL HD (not to be confused with a HD tv tuner) built in. i was wanting to know if it is worth getting a FULL HD t.v? i will mainly be using the TV for xbox360, wii, normal TV. i wont be watching bluray discs, but i will be watching AVI/divx files.. Thanks.

    The only thing it will matter on in your case would be some of the Xbox360 games. By Full HD they usually mean Full 1080p, none of the sources you have will be 1080p except for perhaps some of those games. However, regardless of Full HD or not, it will still look very good. But to get the full potential out of the Xbox, you would want a 1080p set. Good luck! (although in the 42" range of LCDs, they are almost all Full HD anyway)

If you're using it for video games, you don't need 1080p (FullHD in marketing speak). A 720p set should be just fine. The only source material that will show 1080p to advantage is BluRay. That said, the trend lately seems to be making 1080p almost standard on sets over 40".

you should get a tv with a higher refresh rate that means it will eliminate "ghosting" mainly this accrues when there is fast frames.

Only buy one if you have component cables to support 1080p res.

If its over 40" I would recommend getting Full HD(1080p) because as the years pass there will be more channels in HD and eventually you're going to buy a blu-ray player. Also more 360' games are going to support 1080p, I know the Wii wont, but the PS3 and 360 will. So buy it for the HD years to come.
