Which is better DLP or 3LCD?

CRT or DLP?

  • Mitsubishi 52 in DLP 1080p =$1550 2 HDMI Tosbiba 50 in CRT 1080i= $900 1 HDMI Okay, bulbs burn out in DLP, except the "solid state" bulbs, which will cost DLP's price to increase. Advantages/Disadvantages? They have about the same viewing angle, right? Both somewhat bulky Is the DLP worth the extra $600, I'm starting to think no. Also, I just read on here LCD's have great viewing angles, I thought they had the worse of the four kinds. Any one got suggestions? Thanks is advance.

  • Answer:

Sharp Aquos 46" or 52" LCD. Best money I ever spent on a tv. For an extra few bucks, it's now wall mounted so it can't get tipped over. Basically, you get what you pay for in tv's. Spend little for a big screen, where do you think the savings are? The picture quality. Look at it as an investment, rather than a quick purchase.

DLP IS THE WAY TO GO> I think that the Toshiba is DLP as well. If its a new models it must be, I sell them and Toshiba hasn't had a CRT based rear Projection for years. Best best for them in a UPS power supply like the ones used on your computer. When the power fails a fan needs to run to cool down the bulb. It may not happen often but it helps. Dlp has a better picture from the angles. The $600 question is the Mitsu that much nicer than the Toshiba? Even better, go to a LCD panel, it will last that much longer and save you money in power in the long run!

Longevity wize, Mitsubishi makes the best, longest lasting tubes. And outstanding picture! I think in 2005 Toshiba sold a CRT RP 50". Really good Picture. Mature technology. But for a bit more, you can get a DLP, with a picture that will never degrade over time.

I think you almost answered your own question. LCD is by far the only way to go. I took 2-3 weeks & looked at & studied all technologies before I got my Sony 42" LCD HDTV GRAND WEGA. The new sony LCDs have the Bravia interface processor engine to decipher the HD & Digital signals, so you get good resolution on both. I used an HDMI to DVI Monster cable from Ebay ( $57.00 CAN , new ) because the TV has DVI in-put & the Motorola HD/Digital cable box has HDMI. The Bravia has 2 HDMI in-puts. DLP gets colored pixels after 3-4 yrs. & the colors are way too intense & can't be toned down enough to make them look realistic. The LCD technology has natural looking color + the setting on mine called " Vivid " gives the best sharpness & contrast ratio I have seen on an HDTV.

personally i say wait for the SED Tv you get the best of both worlds
