How do i get my speakers to put out more sound?

How do I get my new Plasma TV to project sound in surround sound?

  • I just bought a new 50" Panasonic Plasma TV TH-50PZ80U and I also bought a cheap Curtis DVD player Surround Sound system. I have all this hooked up to dish network for TV watching. I was able to get the TV to play dvd movies in surround sound with no problem but I cannot figure out how to get my regular TV watching of dish network in surround sound with this system. We were hoping to be able to watch movies on our dish channels using some of these external speakers. I was told by the sales man that I bought the system from that I needed to get and hook up a digital audio optical cable and that would fix it so I could watch regular TV on dish network in stereo sound using all my dvd surround sound system speakers. Well that hasn't done the trick! Unless I'm doing something wrong that is. I bought a Fiber optic audio cable and it fit into the back of my plasma TV and the other end I put into the DVD surround Sound system and....nothing happened! I don't know if I'm supposed to do something different or if there is a setting I'm not finding to make this work or what? Someone please help me before my head explodes!

  • Answer:

You probably have to configure the surround reciever to accept the optical input. It may be set to coax. You will have to read the manual to see how to do it.
