LCD tv problem help?

Help with LCD tv problem?

  • My husband was playing the Wii and the remote came out of his hand. He swears he didn't see it hit the tv. Now our TV has a spot in the corner where it looks like a spider crack as if a windshield was hit with a rock... HOWEVER the "crack" does not appear if the tv is off. You can only see it when the tv is on and it truly appears to be electronic. Almost as if somone took a picture of a crack and was viewing it on the tv. There is some weird discoloration on and around it. Has anyone had this happen? Can it be fixed? the tv is a phillips flat screen lcd 42" thanks!!

I have the same exact problem. My 3yr old accidently hit my Sony with a plastic drinking cup. I paid $2000 for the TV at Christmas. The estimate to repair is $2300. No wrannaty will cover. It is just junk. The problem I am having accepting this is that I had no idea these things were this fragile. No IDEA. Or are they just poorly made? I couldn't find out. I am so sorry for your misfortune. Please let me know if your situtation turns out differently.

sounds to me like the liquid crystal display have been cracked in that portion of the screen, or you are getting dead pixles...but if there is discoloration it is more then often the first thing...crack the screen of a calculator you will see the same discoloration
