What is the best indoor TV antenna you built?

  • what is the best indoor TV antenna you built? I am not impressed with the fancy store bought ones, they all seem to do very little more then a wire. I would like to build my own, any ideas? thanks ahead of time.........

    get a nice pretty box about the size of 4 shoe boxes tied together.. wrap around like you would a xmas present. with bare copper wire in one direction and aluminum the other.. connect the end to the back of a regular plug.. if its cable ready tv.. u may have to get an older style to hook up the wires works pretty good... better looking then a coat hanger or foil

You have really answered your own question. Indoor antennas stink. Period. The signal has to make its way through windows and walls to get to the antenna, and by then it's shot. Try to find a way to run a cable outside and hook up a small one facing the transmitter. Otherwise buy a cheap pair of rabbit ears and be prepared to watch a lot of dvd's. (If you live in the states, antennaweb.org has a page for you to enter location info and it shows you where your local signals come from.)
