Why Won't my remote work?

Help!!!t.v remote wont work,why?

  • i know its not the batteries,i know the remote works when i put up the menu bar because it scrolls up and down,our sky remote,which would work the tv aswell,does not activate the tv neither and when i press either remote the blue light flashess as it normally does butnofthing happens.i have checked the settings in the volume,followed the instruction book in the trouble shooting part which says turn off the tv on and offneitherr remote wont do anything including the volume etc.

This problem seems really familiar. It's happened to me, but if there's a few buttons on the top of the remote (TV, VCR, Cable, etc.) then try hitting one of those. I really hope I was help to you.

If neither remote is working then I'd suspect the remote receiver on the TV isn't working. It usually looks like a shiny piece of plastic on the bottom part of the TV. Have a look at the front of the TV and give the surround a very good clean. Make sure that there's nothing blocking the receiver. The other possibility is low-energy lightbulbs. They produce a lot of infra-red interference when they're switched on for a start and settle down eventually after ten minutes. If you've got low-energy bulbs in the room where the TV is, make sure that they're all switched off and then try your remotes. if this cures it then you can go back to normal incandescent lightbulbs or search Google for 'halogen lightbulbs' which are lower-energy than normal bulbs.
