How do I focus my screen?

I have a Sony Wide Projection TV Model #KP-51WS510 where the picture is out of focus at the edge of the screen?

• We turned on the TV and the display of the picture on the far right and left of the screen is out of focus whereas the focus in the middle of the screen is almost fine. Also when words display on the edges of the screen - the words show up three times (in red, yellow and green) all off set by about 1 milimetre, -rather then showing up as black text on the screen like it should be. Text displayed in the middle of the screen is still black. I live at least an hour a way from the closest repair facility so I'm trying to surmise if I should just bite the bullet and try to find a way to buy a new TV - or if this "might" be a simple, repairable problem - that is worth taking into a TV Repair facility to be evaluated. We have reset the display using the setup menu, and have gone through the auto-refocus, and switched from Zoom, to Full Screen to Normal - but have been unable to resolve the problem. Any suggestions?

  The convergence IC's need to be replaced. It's common on this type of set. Expect to pay between $350 and $450.
