What's the best TV converter box?

TV converter box for reception of tv signals?

  • Next Feb. all TV reception from over the air signals will be gone. Is is true that the analog signals received via cable TV will also require a converter box? I have one HD converter box for my HD TV. The remaining TV's in my apt. are simply connected to the incoming cable - no boxes. Will "analog" cable TV signals require any changes? Thank you!

    First of all, Next February only the Analog Over The Air signals will go away. The Digital Over The Air signals will still be there and will be standard into the future. You only need a converter box if you 1. Receive your TV from and antenna AND 2. Your TV does not contain a digital tuner. Any changes on a cable system are due to the cable system's plans. Cable companies are private corporations and can pretty much do whatever they want. I hope this helps. Please return and select a best Answer from all of those submitted.

If you already have cable, then no, you will not need a converter box. Cable is already digital, therefore, no conversion is required. You will only need a converter box if any of your TVs are hooked up to an analog antenna, so the analog signals can be converted to digital signals. I hope this helped! :)

1 HD TV's do not need a c box they have built in atsc/ntsc tuner. So if your HD tv needs one, it was sold to you as HD ready take it back and get one with ATSC/NTSC tuner.Furthermore, analoge TV's will need a c box ,only if they are not connected to a cable ,D TV, or Dish net. But if you buy a DVD with tuner IT will do the job, since the dvd Tuner like the VHS, will act as the c box, because it has to have the ATSC/NTSC,or ATSC tuner. VHS were analog.I mean a 2008,9 dvd with tv tuner not just dvd player.
