How to fix my tv screen?

My LG 47" LCD TV makes a popping noise when turned on and screen goes black. How can I fix it?

  • Purchased this TV about 2 yrs ago and have never had a problem until we recently moved to Florida and have had several power outages. Now every time I turn the TV on, it makes a pop noise and screen goes black. I have to turn the TV on and off several times before I can actually see the picture on the screen. I paid a lot of money for this TV and really need help on how to fix it or a reputable place I can take it to. I live in central Florida-Polk county. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My first thought is that when the power came back on after the outages the TV got hit with a surge that damaged something.....Another problem was a bunch of bad capacitors that were coming from Asia for years.....HP has had major problems with these components in their computers and the same components were used on power supply boards in flat-screens....I have seen MANY fail newer then yours....This is why I all ways tell people to buy the 4 year extended warranty,,,,Also using a surge suppressing power strip for your valuable electronics is a great insurance policy...Anyway---ever hear of THE GEEK SQUAD ? they are technicians that usually work out of Best-Buy stores....I have had good luck with them on warranty service,,,They may charge more if you want in home service-not sure...If no luck with them---I heard Sears also does service but I have no experience with them.
