Where To Watch Hdtv Online?

I am about to buy a lcd hdtv MONITOR.Will i be able to use a vcr to watch cable tv instead of a tuner?

  • since lcd hdtv monitors dont have built in tv tuners, and i would have to buy an external hdtv tuner to watch either digital or regular tv. I was wondering if i can use a vcr that has an RF port, and connect it to my monitor to watch regular tv. Will that work just as well?

lol, yes, people are dumb, since almost ALL VCR's have built in tuners...what a jerk ^ anyway, yes, most likely. you'll have to run the coax cable in from your wall and plug it into "antenna in" then run a composite (red, white, and yellow) cable from your VCR's "A(udio)/V(ideo)" out and into your TV's A/V in. viola! now, just try to remember where you put that dang remote! shoot!

wait, then don't but an LCD monitor, by an LCD HDTV.. there is a difference.. A monitor has no tuner like you say, but an HDTV does..... one reason people buy a monitor is to save money.... A standard HDTV can come with a coax for video, RCA video in, composite video and HDMI video...

They DO make lcd tv's with built in High Def tuners. Most are now produced with built in HD tuners. Do a little research;) Look at the Olevia brand of TV's too....I recently purchased one and I love it!

I don't see why your new lcd hdtv WOULDN'T have a tv tuner. We bought ours (Sony) in November and it has a built in HDTV tuner. We use analog cable, so it doesn't get the HDTV signal-- but we can pick up local (CBS, NBC, ABC, CW) HDTV through (believe it or not) regular bunny ears! The TV has a built in coax cable input. I am sure yours does as well. If not, it sounds like it's too inconvenient to watch television on.

No. the modulator will not work since you will not have a channel 3. VCRs should have a composite (rca video) output that will work.

lol people are dumb. a monitor can only project. it cannot change the channel within the tuner. unless your vcr has a tuner built within, then it cannot change the channel. also, why would you want to use a regular analog cable if you're buying hdtv? you might be able to get a signal through your vcr and change it within the vcr, but do you really want to waste the clarity of an hdtv? best suggestion, well, the only suggestion, is to get a box from your company, either dish or digital cable, then buying a monitor would be the best idea. if you don't have this and don't plan to in the future or don't feel like spending the money, then purchase a tuner tv, not a monitor. goodluck
