How can I get a picture from my HDMI cable?

HD Cable box to HDTV Via HDMI Cable: Problem- I get Picture but No Sound?

  • I connected my new HD TV to the HD Cable box using a HDMI cable, after i set the tv to hdmi port 1 and the picture shows put their is NO sound !!! Please Help ME !

No sound when using the HDTV HDMI input. Most TVs lack built-in decoding for Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, and can only play 2-channel audio. But many HDMI-equipped video components come from the factory set up to send multichannel audio. Usually, just changing the component's audio setting to 2-channel (PCM) solves the problem.

Some cable boxes don't output sound over HDMI .. check the manual. If it does ... or is supposed to you probably have a manu setting in the cable box or TV set wrong. If it doesn't run a digital coax or optical cable to carry the sound.

Make sure you aren't using DVI to HDMI, because that will only allow video and no sound. If it is true HDMI, then connect to a different HDMI input on the tv or checkc the HDMI cable by connecting to a different device (such as a blu-ray player).
