Is Sanyo a good brand of television?

What is the best television brand?

  • Okay, I bought a 36" Phillips brand television about 3 years ago. I believe its a regular plain jane television, no HDTV or anything like that. I paid about $500 for it at the time. I absolutely love the tv, beautiful picture, nice screen size, everything. Well back in February it started going nuts on me, supposedly the mother board was fried and I paid about $200 to have it repaired. Again my beloved television was returned to its youthful state. Thursday evening I went in to watch some tv after work and the darn thing won't turn on. You can hear some sort of whining noise, it is very faint, and I almost thought it was just my ceiling fan instead of the tv, but it stopped as soon as I unplugged the television, and then started again as soon as I plugged it in to another outlet. I don't want to pay to have this television repaired again and think its about time for a new one. Please tell me what is the best brand to go with at a reasonable cost.

You can't go wrong by picking Sony. I went to ABT Electronics and got an "open box" special. This is a model that a customer bought and it was the wrong size and returned. I got a good price and full warranty.

You probably have a shorted horizontal output transistor. To answer your question, Sony, Hitachi, or Mitsubishi.
