Which HDTV should i buy?
-
there are two TVs I am choosing from and they are both 32 inch 1080P TVs made by Sony (Bravia). the only difference between the two is 135 dollars and 120 Hz vs 60 Hz. my question really is if it is worth 135 dollars to get the Hz increase. id use this for watching movies through my computer and playing video games occasionally. i know that films are filmed at 24 FPS which 120 is divisible by. and i know that this makes the picture appear smoother for the 120 Hz tv because on the 60 Hz screen it has to display certain frames twice, otherwise there would be blurring. but i have heard that the difference is not that noticble because they have anti blur technology. so is 120 Hz really worth 135 dollars?

Answer:
I would say yes its worth spending the extra money for 120Hz it will really make a difference http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_15?url=search-alias%3Daps&tag=bestdeals-y-20&field-keywords=32+inch+lcd+tv+1080p+120hz&x=0&y=0&sprefix=32+inch+lcd+tv+&ih=1_3_3_2_0_0_1_0_1_1.70_70&fsc=-1

In order to enjoy watching movies in their native 1080P24 format, you need a player capable of outputting 1080P24 and an HDTV capable of accepting the 1080P24 feed and then display it at a multiple of 24 refresh rate like below: 24 X 3 = 72hz or 3:3 24 X 4 = 96hz or 4:4 24 X 5 = 120hz or 5:5 You must be very careful when choosing a 120hz HDTV. There are 120hz HDTV's that will accept 1080P24 feeds and then do a proper 5:5 conversion to 120hz. However, there are other 120hz HDTV's that do no accept 1080P24 and perform 3:2 pulldown on the feed to bring it to 1080P60 (60hz) and then they double up the refresh to 120hz resulting in an image that is still plagued with judder. If you have 720P60 or 1080i60 HDTV feeds, then doubling up the refresh from 60hz to 120hz is the correct thing to do and will give you a better picture... however, the correct thing to do with 1080P24 feeds is to do a TRUE 5:5 pulldown (24 x 5 = 120). Most here, I assume, would like to use the 120hz capabilities to enjoy 1080P24 from their Blu-Ray players so this will be a VERY important point to research on the individual HDTV's you are interested in. That's one thing the AVSforum is still very usefull for (the HDTV display forums) and not boggled down by fanboyism or biasmodism. One example of this deficiency comes from our "favorite" manufacturer : Toshiba. Their LX177 series do NOT du 5:5 pull down as the engine is running at 60Hz and does a 3:2 pulldown with 24 fps input and then the resulting frames go through ClearFrame interpolation to 120Hz. The resulting images are not completely judder-free, but rather judder-smoothed...

you can tell a big difference between the 120hz and 60hz. the bad thing about 120hz is that when your watching movies it takes the cinema effect away, making the movie look kind of fake but you can always change 120hz to 60hz when watching a movie. the good part is that 120hz looks awesome when playing video games and it especially looks good when your watching sports. so i would say spend the extra money and get 120hz.
