Comcast Digital Cable?

Upgrading to Comcast Digital Cable... I need help please!?

  • Tomorrow we are getting an upgrade on our comcast cable, we have limited basic right now and we are gonna upgrade to Digital Cable with on demand. The problem is, we have 4 tvs want to set up to digital cable but, really can't afford another box. I was told that the one box would be in one room and two there tvs would recieve the channels too, so, three tvs total. So, that leaves one tv with no digital cable. Is there any possibility of using a splitter for me to recieve the digital channels in the 4th room, which means I would have to connect it from one room, and string a cord into mine. Also, getting a box hooked up in my room is not an option. Cause I don't have a cable wall outlet in my room. Which means I would have to get one installed. Not sure I can afford that. How much does that cost by chance? Thanks for the help!

  • Answer:

You will need a digital cable box for every TV that you want to get the digital channels, HD, onDemand, etc. on. Any TV that does not have a cable box should still get the basic channels, but none of the digital stuff. The cable box becomes the tuner for the TV, so if you put in a splitter to send the signal from the cable box to two TVs, the two TVs could not watch different channels at the same time. I don't know exactly how much Comcast charges to put in additional wall jacks... I would guess $50 at least. It is often cheaper to hire an electrician to put an extra jack (they're looking for work right now) or do it yourself.
