What are the HDTV standards?

I have hardtime connecting my 360 to my HDTV?

I am using my 360 componenet HD AV cable to the back of my HDTV into the color input jacks. Connecting the red,green, & blue RCA connectors on the corresponding color input jacks on my HDTV. Connecting the red & white RCA audio connectors into the colored input jacks on my HDTV. Oh yes I even set the HDTV switch on the AV Connector to HDTV. Right now, I my HDTV has no sound & the picture screen in just showing black screen. Yes I turn power on my HDTV. What is the promblem? We all know that a standard TV has a (TV/Video) bottom it is way easyer but,my HDTV does not have (TV/Video) bottom. What I am doing wrong or is it my HDTV. It is on channel 3 right now. Please help!!!!!!!
Answer:

Sometimes instead of saying Tv/Video, it will call it "Input." Look for that button, it accomplishes the same thing.
