What is the purpose of the Firmware feature on Olevia TV's??

I have the 37" Olevia 437 and there is that firmware thing that updates. What does it update? I read how to do it but it seemed more complicated than I really wanted to mess with. I have read several reviews about the Olevia TV and a few of the reviewers also said it was a difficult task doing the firmware thing. I love the picture my TV has but am just curious what the purpose of the firmware update thing is? ??? ??

Firmware is another word for software. The purpose is to upgrade the software on your TV. This may be to add new features to your TV or fix any bugs that may be. If you are happy with your TV the way it is then there is probably no need to upgrade the firmware.
