Is it possible to get a chipped sky box?

Sky box fault, can I swap it with a Sky + box and still get all free channels?

  • I have an old Sky receiver that always blacks out, I'm thinking of getting either a standard Sky box or maybe even a Sky + box off Ebay. I don't subscribe to any packages and just watch the free stuff. Would I be able to get a Sky+ or old Sky box and plug it in without any complications? Or would I need a qualified installer?

    If you don't want to subscribe to Sky, then don't get a Sky receiver. Get a Freesat receiver then. If you wwant the DVR with no service fee, then get a Freesat+ box.

The only difference with the sky+ box is you need a second connection from a dual LNB if you want to recoed and watch another channel at the same time. Other than that you can just use it the same as the regular sky box.

just buy a standard box the + box wont give you anything more so save some money and buy a normal box

Sky /Sky+ effectively the same. without the + subscription you don't get the extra's So just get a new/replacement Sky box... And when it comes call the FressatFromSky helpline to re-"pair" the Card to the new box.. takes a few mins to a 4 hours to come over the air.. press OFF, and Sky again...and it is ready to go. before the call basic BBC/ITV channels will work but the other free ones, have some small encryption on them, so the card removes that. http://www.sky.com/shop/freesat/home/ - 250 TV Freesat(SD) channels from Sky Call that number to pair the new box. Choose one that someon says was working well.. not has been in storage, or it may have some hidden issues.

With a Sky + box you would need either a quad LNB or 2 dishes. go for Freesat.
