What is wrong with my only tv?

What is wrong with my tv and how can I fix it?

  • Hello im just wondering what is wrong with my tv. Now I have 2 tvs in my living room, the main tv which is connected to foxtel and a smaller one which is used to play the ps3 on. Now every time I played the ps3 over the past say 2 years I would always have the main one on as well, so I could watch that to. Now a couple months back say about 6, the small tv started mucking up. Now this is what happens (may get confusing): - I have the small tv on playing on the ps3, while also having the main tv on with foxtel on - After about 15 minutes or so (average, sometime longer, sometimes shorter) the small tv’s picture starts getting fuzzy with little white lines going across the screen, now the picture is still visible just with lines through it. - A couple minutes later the foxtel on the main tv, will start freezing and breaking picture (also audio) until it is unwatchable and cannot be heard. This has happened every time I have played on the small tv. - Every time the foxtel does that, I decide to turn the foxtel and the main tv off. - Gradually over time, like 30 mins or so, (when the main tv & foxtel are off) the picture will get worse and worse with more white lines going across the screen. - Then 3 quarters of the screen starts to appear bright purple with the white lines through it. Now I know it is the small tv with the problem, not power adapters, power points because I have tried it on different ones and the same results occur. So I would love someone to tell me what is wrong with the tv and what I will have to do (eg: take it into a shop to fix it and what to say to them). Because Christmas is near and I am thinking of buying a new small tv to replace it. Thanks. |

  • Answer:

although it is difficult to say without checking.......i think there is a trouble on video power supply of small tv. it may be a COLD soldering. cold soldering cuts off circuit after heating.there are some HOT points on chassis. unplug tv and remove its back cover........you may see chassis with a glass magnifier......... if you find a point of cold soldering....solder it again with soldering iron. good luck
