What should I be looking for when purchasing an HDTV?

I've been looking into purchasing a TV,i found a Toshiba 62 in. HDTV DLP for $1700, is this a good price?

  • TV was purchased by relative, it has 2 yrs left on its warranty?

  • Answer:

NO! Put "dlp hdtv" in your browser and you'll get many hits. For instance, at NexTag.com I see a Samsung 61" (HL61A650) for about $1400 brand new. Or the top quality rated Panasonic 50" plasma (TH-50PX80U) for about $1100-$1400. Look at the current costs. Used TVs, unless at bargain prices (here, perhaps $500) are a bad deal. Way too expensive to fix. Get a new one in a smaller size with all the new technology and a new warranty.
