Should I buy this TV?

Please help me with deciding on a TV to buy.?

  • I am looking for a TV. So far I have found a Vizio TV E3D42OVX which includes a 3D blu ray player, 4 pairs of glasses and 42 inch TV with internet apps. I am now reading horrible reviews about this TV so I am confused. It looks like a really nice TV and for everything included cost $698.I have two other brands but they are a little more expensive. An LG 42LW530042 which is a 42" with blu ray and 4 pair of glasses and a Toshiba 42TL515U natural 3D TV. I am looking for an LED but can't afford $1000 for one. I am going over board with $698 but want a great TV that will last me and my family for a long time. I do have a PS3 which is 3D ready from what I have read. Should I buy this Vizio bundle or find a different brand of TV that has the 3D capability and hook it up to my PS3?

First off, the 3D technology has not really hit the market that good. Keep in mind that to watch in 3D you will need the following: 3D HDTV, 3D blu ray disc player, 3D blu ray disc movies (at this time there are only around 90 titles and they are mainly animated movies) and 3D glasses. This year manufacturer will come out with a new tv that does not require 3D glasses. Vizio and the others you are looking at are not the best brand in the market for reliability. Panasonic and Samsung are the top 2 brands. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology either in standard 2 D or 3D. If you read yahoo questions often you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from those bargain price tv. If you are looking at an LCD or LED tv, keep in mind that they have problems with motion blur when watching fast actions sports or playing video games. To reduce the motion blur you need the faster refresh rate of the 120HZ, which also raise the price of the tv. I have 5 tvs in my home and they are all made by Panasonic. Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

Ultimately, it comes down to value as preceived by quality and price. The "passive" 3D solutions you are considering will provide you 3D, but at a cost. The resolution of the 3D image will be halved. Additionally, the film retarder on the screen will provide a darker image when you watch regular 2D programming. As you have a PS3 which already supports 3D, don't worry too much about a bundled offer with a 3D Blu-ray Disc player. With that, maybe you can settle in with an active 3D TV solution?
