I use an antenna for my TV. When I get my digital box, will I still need an antenna?

Answer:
I have cable, but I bought one of those set top boxes to see how it works. I connected an indoor UHF loop antenna (no rabbit ears) to my box, and the other side to my TV. I easily pull in a few channels. The issue may be that some channels that you now get on VHF may be on UHF for the digital conversion. Right now, all the DTV channels in the Philadelphia area are on UHF.

Yes, and you may need a larger/better one at that. Try it with the one you have but if you find your not getting the same number of channels as before, chances are you will need a larger rooftop antenna. The digital signals aren't being broadcast as strong as the analog and digital is either present or not (unlike analog which will allow you to get a snowy picture)

no u wont..a digital box usually has an inbuilt system of picking up signals...somewhat like a cell phone..

Maybe, depending upon the signal strength. I would assume that the antenna need is probable.

I am hooked up to a converter box & I have tried an amplified antenna for my bedroom Tv & digital box- I lost one station - but the others came i clear- even better than before the box. I also have a small digital tv in the kitchen- I bought a cheap - non amplified antenna for that- I can't pick up the same channel- so I assume it's the station at this point. The best is always a rooftop, otherwise try using the cheapest to the highest until you get the best signal and reception- it's a pain, but worth it. Hope this helps.

Yes - the same antenna I used before works just fine for digital and HD channels. As long as you have a VHF/UHF antenna - IT WILL WORK.

The "digital box" just converts HDTV signals into analog TV signals so that your analog TV can display the picture. If you currently need an antenna to pick up TV stations, you will still need an antenna to pick up TV stations when they stop broadcasting in VHF. The "digital box" will plug inbetween the antenna and your TV. HDTV signals are broadcast in UHF frequencies, so you will need a UHF antenna (commonly marketed to consumers as an overpriced "hdtv antenna").
