Why is my tv picture blue?

I have a Sony 53" Rear Projection TV. Out of the blue the picture has yellow and blue highlights...?

  • I have a Sony 53" Rear Projection TV. Out of the blue the picture has yellow and blue highlights around the images on the screen. My tv does not enable me to converge. The remote will bring up the + signs which are far from each other, but no way to bring them together. The tv is 8 years old and I really don't want to get rid of it. What could be the possible problem? I vacuumed all the dust out of the inside and need to know if I have anything else I can try before I go to the expense of a service call visit and $$$$. Thanks.

    The blue convergence amplifier IC has failed. It will need to be replaced by a professional and realigned. Any attempt to do this by anything other than an experienced pro will most certainly be a total disaster.

The old sony rear projos that use the 3 crts in them have an auto converge. If you vacuumed out the inside of the tv that should just have helped the brightness on the lamp. The only other way is risk damaging it yourself and have to realign the blue red green by yourself. Spend the 250 or so and have the convergence realigned professionally.
