Answer:
well, seeing as i just bought a television a few weeks ago, let me tell you what i discovered..... plasma tv's (even the newest ones) dont live as long as lcd's. i checked TONS of online reviews and pestered everyone i know that's had a plasma or lcd tv for months before making up my mind. also, if anyone in your house plays video games, plasma is a bad idea. the longer they play a game, the hotter your tv gets, and the picture can burn into the screen. i went with a 46" lcd thats only about 45 lbs, and a little over 4" thick. its a full 1080p, and it costs about $1400. its a polaroid. (of all of them there, this one looked the best from every angle i looked at it from, and i also played with the setting on each tv. i pretty much couldnt make this one look bad). not quite a 50" screen, but side by side with a 50", it really didnt look much smaller at all, and its a few hundred bucks cheaper than the 50's... lastly, dont trust the online things entirely, go SEE them for yourself. you'll find that if you look at a tv from dead center it'll look great, but if you walk a few feet to one side, it gets real cloudy (or you cant see it at all). if a lot of people are over for a movie or sporting event, you want them all to see it nice and clear. good luck! (i'd go with the lcd one, the third one)

Go with the Sharp since it has the fastest refresh rate which is particularly relevant when viewing sports activities as well as gaming videos. Nevertheless, there's still the issue of reported "dead" pixels which are often uncovered "after" the TV is delivered to your home/apartment. Before such delivery occurs, turn on the LCD TV at the store and while it's on, look for those "dead" pixels. Apparently, Sharp has sidestepped any responsibility [for "dead" pixels] by stating that a certain percentage of "dead" pixels are allowed to pass QA inspection. The "dead" pixel controversy has caused a number of Sharp LCD TVs owners to post poor reviews at amazon.com for this particular Aquous. Good luck!
