Philips indoor antenna, how to install?

Philips plasma just stopped receiving only the antenna signal last night.?

  • I have a 42'' Philips TV, model # 42PF9630A/37. It is about 3 years old. Last night the TV was on the Olympics and we were in another room. All the sudden the sound stopped. When we looked the TV was off. When we turned it on there were no channels. We tried reprogramming/searching as this TV (for some stupid reason on Philips part) deletes a channel if it decides it is not a good enough signal. There were no channels that it could find. It wasn't the cat as she was sleeping elsewhere. Now the TV will not find any over the air signals (no cable here). The small LCD works fine and gets channels no problem. I switch the antennas around and they are fine as well. The DVD and game consoles work fine on the TV displaying with no problem so the other inputs work. I just installed the latest software and there is no difference. The only thing that seems to be wrong is it cannot find any signal from the antenna. Did something blow or is this some other problem? IIRC the power strip the TV is plugged into has a fuse in it. If something blew would I be able to fix it? I fix computers (though I don't solder) as a side job. Thanks for any help.

  • Answer:

I would suspect something happened to the antenna. Is there an antenna amplifier in the line that could have failed or powered off? Is the down lead OK (mice love to chew on cables). Did the wind blow the antenna aiming off?
