LCD or LED TV- Is it worth the money?
-
I am planning on upgrading my TV and am comparing prices between the LCD and LED TVs. The price difference between the two I am looking at is about $600 for a 55". Is it worth the extra money to go with the LED?

Answer:
No! Not yet at least. LED is very new technology, and is in a very early phase of its product life. There are a few reasons why you should not get an LED TV yet. First LED, being brand new, costs a lot extra (the best LED TV on the market is 55'' and costs around $4,000). Secondly, LED technology in TVs is not perfected. My prediction is that there will be vast upgrades to the technology over the next few years, as more manufacturers enter the market, (which will in turn drive the price to a more affordable range). In conclusion, buy a nice LCD TV, there are great savings if you find the right TV, and the next time you want to upgrade, chances are that LED TV's will be the new standard, just like LCD is now.

Yes, the LED tv is quite clearer, if you go to a major electronics store that sells both, and sit next to them showing the same movie (most major stores do so you can see the detail difference by comparing the same images) you will see the more crystal clear image of the LCD and much smoother it looks, i dont know the actual specifications on it, but the below site should help.

It is not worth the extra $600 for the LED. It does not offer better picture quality worth the $600, but it is thinner. If you read yahoo question you will find many problems with LCD tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews along with the pro and con on Plasma, LCD and LED tvs. You will also notice that Panasonic has a tv recommended in each of the price category of entry level to the high end, while Sony, Samsung and Toshiba does not (December issue). Other brands like LG, Sharp, Sanyo and Vizio did not even get mentioned. Plasma still offers the best picture quality of all tvs in the market today. If you do decide to buy a LCD or LED stay with Sony or Samsung brand only. Hope this will help you out.

LCD's and LED's are vitually the same thing. An LED has an LCD display. The difference is that the LCD uses a single flourescent bulb to light the screen. Because of this, it is difficult to reproduce blacks. This causes LCD's to have a lower quality black level. LED's use LED bulbs as back lights. The LED's can individually be turned on and off, and some newer models can be lit in various color combinations. This increases the color vibrance slightly and alows for much blacker blacks. I honestly don't think that the difference in picture quality is justified by that much money. Just to throw this out there, unless you are big video game player. You are best to buy a plasma. The plasma has every bit the same quality of the LED's has the same vivid colors and deep dark blacks and an LED would have. The difference between the two is that plasmas are susceptable to screen burn in. This can be a problem for people who play hours of video games where there is constant image on the screen, such as scores, HUD radar displays, or other images that are alwyas in the exact same spot on the screen. If you play alot of video games, you are best to go with an LED... but if not, you can save yourself hundres, if not a thousand dollars or more by going with a plasma. One more thing to throw in there. On the near horizion, there are two other television technologies. CED and Laser. There are already Laser TV's on the market, and CED technology is very close to coming out. Both of which offer far superior quality over anything that is on the market now. If you really are looking to purchase a top of the line TV, you are best to wait it out another year or two.

LED screens are very nice, I have an LED laptop and its amazing. However the tv you are looking at cost a lot more than my laptop so I am gonna say that it would be wise to wait. Wait until the LEDs are more common and the price will drop.
