Do you have to wear glasses for the new 3D Tv's?

Are 3D TVs specialised to only work with 3D Active or Passive Glasses.?

  • Are 3D TVs specialised to only work with 3D Active or Passive Glasses? So, for example my brother could watch 3d tv with passive glasses and me with Active glasses. Is that possible , or can I only watch the Tv only with on of the kind? Is this TV good or not? http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-ps51d495-51-hd-ready-plasma-3d-tv-10224684-pdt.html

  • Answer:

Each TV will only work with one type of glasses, you cannot take a pair of passive glasses and watch a set designed for active glasses or visa versa.

TV models are made for passive or powered active glasses.. The active glasses are expensive. I find 3D sales down, and also the viewing is hard on the eyes, especially for active viewing. Wait a while. Toshiba is coming out with glasses-free HDTV.!!

Already owning a 3d samsung TV (with a lower specification) I can assure you the 3d is great the 2D is out of this world and the smart TV is a great addition. As far as I understand it (please correct me TV geeks if I am wrong). A Standard HD TV operates at 50hz and as such show each image (from a standard bluray) twice a second, the TV you are looking at works at 600hz and as such will show the image 25 times a second, resulting in a far clearer, smoother and better 2D image. One quick word of warning if you do pick a samsung TV, the 2010 samsung TV glasses are not the same as the 2011 (onwards) TV so make sure you buy the correct type. Cheapest are below and you even get a free film~ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Glasses-Package-Megamind-Blu-ray/dp/B0055B5DWY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329122486&sr=8-2 One final point for all people waiting for glasses free 3d, be realistic! Although prototype models are available and have been shown at trade shows, they are not ready for sale. The manufacturers are still trying to work out the distance and angle problems, until glasses free tv is produce so it can be watch for a number of angles and distances they will not be ready for home sale. Please correct me if I am wrong ? Even when they do produce home sale models the starting prices will be huge and not in most people’s price range as the original 3d TVs were, could be some 3-4 year before glasses free 3d is on the market at an affordable price!

im not sure if i would buy it or not,, you can read the review of the tv here http://www.whathifi.com/review/samsung-ps51d495 and that tv only works with active 3d glasses which cost over £50 each but it does give you better 3d effect compared with passive 3d glasses compatible 3d tv

when hell is full the dead will walk the earth

Buy a Panasonic plasma TV for £489.99. It has HD 1080p freeview
