How can i fix my old tube tv tuning?

• Before anyone says get a new tv I'm not lol. This one is just in my room, new tv is downstairs, and im currently in college so i dont want to spend the money on a new tv, or a cheap one. I dont watch it much anyway. We had it since i was little, i think its either a 1991 or a 92 and its a sharp brand tube tv. The problem im having is when im watching tv at night only certain channels lose their tuning. it goes out and then back in usually, and only happens after ive been watching it for a while. when the tuning goes out it it makes a "ripping" buzzing sound, and the video gets all white and snowy. tuning sometimes comes back for that channel. Other channels work with no problem at all. I'm very good with electronics, i figured i can try to fix it myself. If i end up breaking the tv in the process i wont really care. What would be a good thing to look for when i open it up?

  What kind of a signal input do you have coming into your TV? Is this an indoor or outdoor type antenna? I hesitate to ask if you have cable or satellite signal input. If this tuner is a hybrid type, it can easily be replaced. Are you talking about a VHF and UHF tuner or just a VHF tuner? These tuners are soldered to the mainboard with about 6 or 7 leads plus the grounding tabs of the tuner case. If there are 2 tuners, you have both a VHF and UHF type. This could also be that the TV stations in your area cut down their power at night, unless your problem has just started to occur. You need access to a TV signal generator to verify integrity of your tuners.
