Samsung DLP help?

Help me decide between a 61 inch 50 inch or 56 in 72 inch samsung dlp?

  • i want to get a samsung led hdtv dlp and i can go as high as the 72 inch but my concern is if the image will look as good as a smaller screen lets say 61 inch in 1080p does a bigger screen size mean the image will be worse or better ?which would you get and why?

  • Answer:

50 inch, you dont need any bigger and yes, the smaller you go, the better the picture.

I highly recommend staying away from Samsung units. The HIGHEST failure rates with poor factory support, and near eternal backorder of parts. In my opinion, they are the worst pieces of sh I T ever made. If you do get it, expect major problems. We do warranty work for Samscum; and man they do not have their act together. We are swamped with the DLP units and others; and most of the parts are on backorder with a wait at least 3 weeks. They are designed to last right out of the warranty and break. About 66% will break after warranty, the rest will last up to 4 years. For a rear projection unit, I suggest teh Sony line, if DLP the Toshiba line. Stick to these brands and you will be as ease in knowing that your money that you paid was an investment and not a loss. Sony, Toshiba, Pioneer, Panasonic, Hitachi, Mitsubishi. As a repair tech; we know which units are good.

If you google the model number, you can check out forums for other people's experiences with each. (In case the newest model has flaws.) I'd vote for the 50" though. Depends on whether you have digital TV - my friend just bought a bigger screen, but it really wasn't the upgrade he'd hoped for, he has to subscribe to digital to get OK reception.

I wouldn't choose Samsung. Japanese company holds lots patents for controlling TV signals. They are less flicker than Korean one (Samsung is Korean company). You won't be able to find the difference when in shop. Because most shop displays TVs with DVD pictures (which You can not check the flicker when receiving the TV wave.).

You don't want to crane your neck watching TV....or shift your eyeballs watching it either..... You want to RELAX watching TV..... So you want a TV set where you can see the WHOLE PICTURE without shifting your eyeballs... Keep that in mind when you SIZE UP that TV in the room you'll be putting it in..... NOW....MOST TVs I work on are 50 to 60 inchers... And since they are the MOST POPULAR TV sets, the manufactures REALLY support these sizes over the RARELY purchased 70 inchers.... And they are serviced FASTER because of the stockpile of parts out there.... Although that's NOT a big deal now, it will be a big deal later when you have to wait 6 WEEKS for a part on your 70 inch TV set !! Now, most rooms have about 12 to 15 feet between YOU and the TV set....and the 60 incher is NICE for that size of room. It's Big, but that's something that you IMPLY you WANT ! I want BIG! Ginormously BIG TV! 100 inch is Better than 50 ! But the drawback is it is HARDER TO SERVICE when it Fails! And it ALWAYS fails just before the MOST IMPORTANT show of the season....you know that to be the truth don't you? And you'd like that TV guy to fix it fast, right? Of course... So make it EASY for him to do it.... Get the 50 to 60 INCHER.....use 50 for 8 foot distances between you and the TV and 60 for 10 to 15 foot distances....

You may wish to consider a better brand such as Toshiba which Consumer Reports rates as the very best led hdtv dlp! Good luck!
