Direct TV HD non DVR box question?
-
So we have 3 Tv's in my house. 2 have DVR but the TV's aren't HD. My TV has the old box that doesn't have HD or DVR, my question is, if I was to buy the new box that has HD but not DVR (90$ on amazon) would it work without having to talk to DirecTV and no new payments

Answer:
No. Any satellite receiver you want to use with your DirecTv system must, in one way or another, be initialized by DirecTv. Depending on their specific policies, they may or may not agree to do that for a third-party box, but if they do, there will be a service charge and most likely a monthly fee.
