What is the best large screen TV?

What is the best way to hook up your Direct TV to my Samsung DLP big screen?

  • So I have this really cool Harmon Kardon AV 7.1 reciever... Typical overkill reciever it seems...lol and I live in the mountains with Direct TV. I also have a, Wii a DVD and a Direct DVR box. What's the best way to hook all this stuff up... Should I take everything through the receiver and out to the TV or should I run the DVR to the TV and the rest to the reciever and out to the TV... or everything into the TV and then just a stereo output to the receiver and leave it out of the AV picture... I never understood which is the best. Anybody know a good website. I'd like to get this thing set up once and for all...thanks for your help

    If your receiver has HDMI inputs and video output, pass everything through the receiver - use the receiver as a switch If not, connect the video cables to the TV (HDMI, component, etc.) and connect s/pdif cable from each device to the receiver..

I hooked everything up to the tv directly via HDMI cables or composite video cables and then run the sound cable from the tv thru the receiver. Works great awesome sound, especially if you've got the sound hooked up with optical cables. And, yes I get Dolby d sound with a 5.1 surround sound using optical cable.
