How do you hook a cable TV cable AND rabbit-ear antenna cable at same time to a TV with only one tuner input?
-
My new LCD TV has only one tv tuner input to accept either a cable tv cable or over-air antenna cable. I would like to hook both to the TV at the same time and be able to select between cable and over-air. Is this possible with some sort of device? Thanks.

Answer:
Call your cable company. Let them know that you are experiencing problems switiching between the antenna and cable TV. They will schedule a service call for a technician to come out to your home. I have not seen a cable company charge as of yet for "service calls". However, if you tell them that you need to have your TV set-up to watch both, they will charge you to have a cable installer come out. I would suggest explaining to customer service that you are simply experiencing a poor picture. They will try to troubleshoot with you over the phone so play stupid. They try to avoid sending out a service technician whenever possible. Once the service tech arrives to your home show him the TV and explain that you were told by customer service that you simply need an "A/B swith". The tech will take it over from there. Offer the tech a soda or $5 for lunch :)

Get an RF cable splitter -and voila! _ _ _ _ _ _

You need to go to an electronics store or perhaps Walmart. Go to the tv section. They sell this little black box that has white buttons on it called an RF-Splitter. You just run all of the wires into this box and if you want to watch cable, you press one of the white buttons and then to switch back to over-air, you just press the other white button. I think it allows for up to three things to alternate between. I hooked one up for a friend of mine that had cable, sat, and DVD. It was easier for them to use. I think the box runs around $10 and is super easy to hook up and use. It's self-explanatory. Good luck!

It is possible; you can get a video switch which goes between two f-connectors on one side and a single f-connector on the other side. You will also need a balun to convert the 300-ohm rabbit ear lead to a 75-ohm coax to connect to the switch. The switches were originally sold for use with video games.

i'm not entirely sure, but I think you can put the antenna into the cable box and the cable box cable into the TV, well at least that's the way it works for DVDs and VCRs.... you know what, nevermind, I have no idea what I'm talking about, scratch that, I didn't read all the way through. but I know there's a special box for that, it has all the tuners for cable, antenna, DVD, VCR, and the fancy ones have tuners for game consoles. I used to have one for my old TV
a device that looks like a cable splitter but in a reverse order. they may have it at radio shack. for example instead on one cable converted into two cable wires it would be two cable wire converted into one

buy yourself a switcher inexpensive ones look like a splitter with a slide switch in the face of the switcher. It usually has a label with "ant" and "game". It is originally used for old video game consoles and a antenna in the old days when it only came with one tuner. You can find it for $4 to $8 at any store. But try your local radio shack or hardware store.
