When purchasing a new tv, does 60 HZ vs 120 Hz REALLY matter?

Why is my picture choppy when I play a Blue Ray from my PS3 on my TV?

  • Is it because my TV is only 60 Hz? If so, should I look for a 120 Hz or 240 Hz when purchasing a new TV?

  • Answer:

It is possible that it's your 60hz TV! Most film based movies are recorded in 24fps(frames per second). A 60hz TV can display up to 60fps! However, 24fps does not divide evenly into 60hz so the TV has to repeat certain frames a couple of times. This is called 3:2 pulldown and it creates a motion artifact called 'Juddering' during fast motion! 120hz and 240hz TV's where created to counter act this problem and from what i've seen and heard...actually does what it's supposed to! Plasma TV's are the best when it comes to film based material because they have 480hz and 600hz refresh rates as well as near instant response times(.001ms)! Making them ideal for sports and gaming as well! Plasma's are dollar for dollar the best picture quality money can buy!
