How do you connect your laptop to your tv via HDMI cable?

Can you connect a hdmi cord to your cable box via laptop to view it on the tv?

I have a Comcast cable box that has a hdmi output and just out of curiousity , I was wondering if it is possible to connect a hdmi cord to that cable box to your laptop so i can view it on my tv .

Not unless your laptop has an unusual configuration at the HDMI connector and software to match. You'd need a bidirectional HDMI interface on the laptop, instead of the output-only mode it now offers. And you'd need software that could handle the complex digital video-plus-audio bitstream arriving on the HDMI cable from the cable box. Nothing is impossible any more, but I haven't seen or heard of a laptop that can do all that today. ---------------------- Followup per the other answer: those videos do *not* apply to your question. They are for using your laptop as a signal source for the TV.
