How can I get more channels on my television without a cable box?

  • I had multiple channels by plugging my tv directly into my wall without a cable box, but within the year I've been losing channels left and right. Is there any way to get these channels back without having a cable box? Right now I have basic cable like fox, cbs, nbc, pix and upn I have a sony bravia

    The cable system is going digital. As the channels are converted to digital you loose them unless you have a cable box. Digital cable is scrambled and only a cable company digital cable box will unscramble them so ;they can be viewed. If the cable system goes ALL DIGITAL you will have to get a cable box to get anything.

I find a lot of Sony Bravia and other models having a lot of problems lately.. Their quality has gone way down.. Assuming your TV is not too old, it should have a digital/QAM tuner.. Is input set for cable? Do a scan again of channels.....Some of those TV's lose the channels scanned left and right frequently.

Try scanning your tv channels first. Go to menu Go to cable tv option Scan channels If that doesn't work, you will probably have to get a converter box for digital cable. I don't know what service you have, I had to do the same thing to get my channels back.

install a uhf antenna on the roof.....buy a digital set top box if your tv is analog.
