If I buy a HDTV from US, can I watch HD channels in UK with cable?

I want to know if a HDTV has issues of being a PAL or NTSC like regular TVs. Ex:Now if I buy a NTSC TV, I can't watch PAL channels with it because it uses different signal. Are HDTVs like this too?

Short Answer NO they use a different digital system for OTA (over the air) broadcast. It is called DVB-T. Find more stuff here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_television_in_Europe But you should be able to watch tv if you get a tuner that outputs to composite, dvi or hdmi.
