What are the lines on my plasma TV?

My Samsung 42" Plasma TV has horizontal rolling lines when it gets warmed up. What could be causing this?

  • I originally thought it was some type of electronic interference from our neighbors house because there would be white lines that would pop up and disappear. This went on for awhile and then the lines wouldprogressivelyy last longer and longer. I finally realized it happened when it was warmer in the house and the tv was on for awhile. So, it appeared that the tv would start getting the lines when it warmed up. They progressively got worse, black and white horizontal rolling lines. I put a fan behind the tv and it seemed to have fixed he issue. Now it is worse then ever and the tv has black, white, and a tinge of red and green lines as well. Please help! What is this? And is it even worth trying to get fixed?

  • Answer:

There's a good chance that it's the buffer boards! Older Samsung Plasma's seemed to have this problem a lot and they used to be very expensive to fix($600+)! Not sure if they are still that much to replace them though! If it's under warranty, contact Samsung for repair or replacement. If not under warranty, call them up for a quote. It may be better to buy a new TV! Good luck!
