What is the best antenna to get for a digital tv?

We have an "analog" VCR, a new digital TV + rabbit ear antenna. Should I get a converter box or a new VCR?

  • We have an "analog" Sony VCR and a brand new digital TV plus a bunny ear antenna. So far they can talk to each other. The HD TV gets all the channels already broadcasting on HD, and the VCR can play our old movies. What is your suggestion: in order to record anything from the air now and especially after February 17, 2009, would anyone suggest hooking up a digital-to-analog converter box between the rabbit ear and the VCR or should I just buy a digitally tuned VCR?

  • Answer:

id get the converter for the change

Remember that the tuner in your VCR won't work after the switch. If you get a converter you will only be able to record what you are watching, as your VCR (most likely) can't control the tuner in the converter. If you want to do timed recordings, you'll need a recorder with a digital tuner.

Do yourself a favor and buy a DVD recorder and put your tapes on hold .The picture quality is amazing compared to VHS tapes. Believe me you will thank me if you do. And besides DVD is already digital. And you will be amazed at the quality you will get from discs compared to Tapes. Day and night. Think of it this way. The difference is like comparing a Lamborghini to a VW Think about it. Hope this helps you.
