What is the difference between PC games in a box vs. jewel case?

Do I need a tv licence?

  • I don't have a tv or sky. I do however use the internet particuly youtube. my question is do i need a license to view youtube videos such as blogs, hauls etc. Also people tend tp upload copyrighted videos such as tv programmes e.g charmed, friends. Would I still need a license to view these even though they are on regular youtubers channels and not the proper tv youtube channels . It says on the uk tv licence site It makes no difference how you watch TV - whether it's on your laptop, PC or mobile phone or through a digital box, DVD recorder or TV set - if you use any device to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV, the law requires you to be covered by a TV Licence. If you don't use any of these devices to watch or record television programmes at the same time as they're being shown on TV - for example, if you only use your TV to watch DVDs or play video games, or if you only watch programmes on your PC after they have been shown on TV - you don't need a TV Licence. If this is the case, please let us know. Im confussed? :S

i don't think you need a license.. there are things that you can buy to watch streaming live tv on your computer, this is what they are referring to when they say you have to get a license. you are not watching these shows LIVE "or if you only watch programmes on your PC after they have been shown on TV - you don't need a TV Licence" so as long as you watch something not 'live' ie. at the same time it is airing in real life, then you should be fine

A TV Licence is only required to watch live television - if you only watch non-live services such as iPlayer, 4oD, or YouTube then you do not need a licence. Note that owning a TV set does not require a licence - provided the programme you are watching is not being transmitted live, you can watch it on whatever device you like (e.g., either a TV set or a computer monitor).

I have no idea what you're talking about, but it sounds interesting. (not necessarily in a good way, but still interesting.) Can you link the site you referenced? I've never heard of a tv license before. I don't think that videos often end up on youtube before airing (somewhere, just maybe not locally), so it sounds like you may be safe there.

You don't need a license. You need a license only if you watch TV Live from the web, or receive TV from traditional sources such as Freeview, satellite, cable, or BT Vision (regardless if you watch live or record and watch later). .

yes to watch tv you must have a tv liscense which costs 250 dollars at least plus 30 hrs of classroom, and 10 of tv watching under supervision.
