Is it bad to move LCD screen when the computer is on?

Watch cable tv and use LCD tv as a computer monitor also?

  • I currently have a LG Flatron L1720P 17 inch flat (lg flat screen computer monitor) that i am using for my computer. i reasontly moved my tv out of my room and would like to put it back in there, but unforunatly i dont have a spot to put it. I have a Samsung LTN1735 17-Inch LCD (flatscreen LCD tv) i have verizon fios, for internet and for the cable. for my tv i use the box for all my channels. i would like to trash the computer monitor i have right now, and move in my samsung tv and used it as my monitor. i was looking at the tv to see if it had the same plug ins as my computer screen, and it does. so i figure that its going to work out and i can just use my tv as a new monitor. heres the question.. can i use my tv screen as a monitor, like have it hooked up to my computer, and also have it hooked up to my verizon box so i can use it to watch my cable tv also?

  • Answer:

Yes. I did this with my Samsung 47" 1080p LCD HDTV Series 7. You just plug your computer in via the VGA port or DVI if you have it and plug your TV into the cable box via the HDMI or regular aux cable and just switch sources depending on what you want to view. You may also want to pick up an audio jack from Radioshack that lets you plug your "headphones" jack into your TV's similar computer audio port so you can get sound from your computer, unless you want to use external speakers. I just ended up using my car's mp3 aux player jack.. it's the same cord and worked fine. I was watching iTunes movies and Hulu on my computer via my HDTV in no time lol. Have fun.
