How do i fix the color on this tv?

How can i fix the color on my TV?

  • the reds are really dark like black. the green is to brownish yellow. How can i fix this?

  • Answer:

There are two possibilities. Either your TV has a problem with the hardware (if it's a traditional "tube" TV, one of your colour guns might be broken, for example), or it's merely set up improperly. To set it up properly, I recommend two steps. The first is to find a "RESET" function on your on-screen display menus (OSD) to reset the colour settings back to the factory default (my LCD TV has a "Factory Defaults" menu option). If you don't have a reset function, try setting everything to the "middle" setting. This will get you to a normal, but not perfect setting. The next thing you should do is go to your local video rental store. Ask for a TV calibration DVD. The good ones come with a little piece of blue see-through plastic (called a "gel") that allows you to just see blue when you are looking at your TV through it. If your video rental store doesn't carry it, call around. You shouldn't have to look too hard before you find one. The DVD walks you through step-by-step how to get PERFECT colour, brightness, and contrast out of your television. They are well worth the rental fee. If your TV still looks like it's colour-challenged, you probably have a hardware problem and you have to choose between a) calling a TV repair shop b) replacing it (sometimes cheaper) c) getting it fixed under warranty or d) living with it I hope this helps.
