My HDTV has 1080i what does this mean?

Ok i have a magnavox hdtv and it supports up to 1080i what doe that mean?

  • Answer:

The difference in 1080i and 1080p 1080i means the picture is Interlaced from top to bottom in one 30th of a second. 1080p is better only becouse its picture is Progressive from top to bottom at a quicker speed of one 60th of a second. It just makes the picture sharper. BlueRay uses 1080p format if that helps.

It means if you have a high defenition dvd player, game console, dvr, etc... that has 1080i or lower capability you can watch that device in high defenition. which includes 720i, 720p, 480i, 480p to hook up one of those devices in high defenition you need a hdmi cable or hd hookups red, blue, green, colored cables

The 1080 MEANS you have full HD, you cant do any better, there isnt going to be anything better. i means the frames are interlaced instead of progressive (p) There is some debate whether i is better than p, but it depends on what you watch. Sports needs p, and movies are better with i, but it really is about preference. but I wouldnt worry, you have a fantastic tv and I would love to have one like it

Brad

that means its full hd best pic that you can get it goes 720p 1080p then 1080i which is the **** the i stands for Interlace and p is progressive scane.

It means that you have a HDTV, with a built in HDTV tuner...they TV will support upto 1080i, which is good!
